Blackford Brae School
Blackford Brae School is based in Edinburgh. It offers full time education to 24 primary aged children from Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian councils. It works with children and carers to maximise children’s learning potential, develop their self esteem and ability to behave appropriately and to enhance the contribution of parents / carers in supporting their child’s development and education. Blackford Brae aims to return children to mainstream school wherever possible and to achieve this for 80% of pupils.
Blackford Brae Community Support Team
The CST is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Edinburgh City Council and aims to ensure that as many primary aged children with emotional and behavioural problems as possible remain in their own schools and families wherever safe and appropriate. It promotes whole school, and whole class approaches and offers a range of help to parents and undertakes both individual and group work with children.
Cluaran
Cluaran is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Falkirk Council Social Work and Education Services. The Service provides locally based support to young people between the ages of eleven and sixteen who are at risk of being accommodated or placed within residential school. Cluaran provides individual work, work with families, group work programmes and direct educational support including individual subject teaching, preparation for exams, supporting young people to attend school regularly, direct support for young people in mainstream classes or pupil support bases, and direct work on behavioural issues that contribute to difficulties in school. Cluaran can also offer additional support in response to school exclusion or difficulties occurring during the school day
SPACE (Supporting Primary Aged Children in Education)
SPACE aims to improve the quality of life of primary aged children who are experiencing significant difficulties at school and/or home. The project is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Dundee City Council. The difficulties experienced by children referred to SPACE, and the concerns of their families and other people in their lives may be related to: education, behaviour, emotional well being and health. The work of SPACE relies very much on harnessing the expertise and knowledge held by families, schools, key professionals, and others who know the child best. The systemic, solution focused approach of SPACE has shown that collaborative support which identifies strengths and resources paves the way for positive change.
Lecropt
Lecropt School and Family Support Service is based in Falkirk and is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Falkirk and Stirling Councils. The school provides full time education programmes and family / individual support to 19 pupils aged 5-12 who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and who have not been able to have their needs met in mainstream primary schools. Lecropt’s aim is to effectively address the personal, family and community issues that affect pupils and to support their return to mainstream school wherever possible. The school works closely with families, partner agencies, health professionals and others to achieve this.
Bo’ness Education and Family Support Service
BEFSS offers a range of support services to enable children and young people to attain their full potential within mainstream education settings. The service also provides home-school link work which promotes parental/carer involvement in their children’s education. The range of services includes Nursery Nurture Groups, Primary School Nurture Groups, Nurtured Transitions, Buddy Service in secondary education, Home-school Link.
Alongside these services there is also a range of Early Years Services aimed at promoting positive parenting and their children’s emotional, physical, social and cognitive development.
Levenmouth Links
Levenmouth Links is a partnership between Barnardo’s and Fife Council social work and education services. The service provides programmes supporting the transition of children from primary to secondary school, runs drop-in sessions in schools, delivers group work programmes in schools and supports a buddy system in a high school.
RING (Resilience in North Glasgow)
RING is a partnership between Barnardo’s, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow North SIP. The service provides support based on building resilience in children and includes a programme to support children in the transition between primary and secondary schools.
Linksfield Residential Unit and FACS (Families and Community Service) Aberdeen
The Residential Unit provides up to five planned placements for children aged between 9 and 14 years whose situation at home has broken down and who are at risk of being placed out with Aberdeen. Referrals are made jointly through Social Work and Education Services
FACS supports children aged 5 to 14 years to remain within their family, school and community wherever it is safe to do so.
A team of teachers is seconded from Aberdeen City Council to support the children in the residential unit and some of those supported by FACS to remains within mainstream education.
