PINS 'curriculum' theme
This is the time to ensure that A Curriculum for Excellence reflects the needs of all pupils. Here is an update and information about how you can have your say:
A Curriculum for Excellence is moving on quickly – and draft ‘experiences and outcomes’ papers are now emerging. These experiences and outcomes describe expectations about learning for children and young people from 3 to 15 years old. Each has a limited time within which people can comment. If you see the urgency in making sure that A Curriculum for Excellence engages with the needs of children and young people who are excluded, disaffected or disengaged please do so now.
The experiences and outcomes papers are available on line at the Learning and Teaching Scotland site. But do they meet the needs of children and young people you work with?

New! Voluntary sector involvement with numeracy and literacy trials
PINS is connecting LTS with voluntary sector providers to trial the new developments and projects and units with PINS partner agencies are currently exploring how they can be involved in trialling numeracy or literacy materials. These agencies are involved: Aberlour Childcare Trust, Barnardo’s Scotland, Fairbridge Scotland, NCH Scotland, Prince’s Trust, Rathbone, Right Track and YMCA. We will update on their progress here on the PINS site. Watch this space.
Coming Soon! Health and Wellbeing
Perhaps some of the most eagerly awaited material from the A Curriculum for Excellence writing teams is on the theme of health and wellbeing as this will have a key concern not only for ensuring the best personal, social and health education but also will capture much of the commitment that is required to ensure that A Curriculum for Excellence addresses the experience of school and what we need to do together to improve the outcomes – educational, health and social - for all children. We are sure the voluntary sector will have much to offer the consultation about the health and wellbeing outcomes and experiences papers and we will promote your involvement via these pages. So again, watch this space!
