logoFairbridge in Scotland has over 20 years of experience working with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – helping them develop the self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives. The young people often face multiple issues, ranging from school exclusion and homelessness to anti-social behaviour, crime and substance misuse. They often lack family support and exist on the margins of society.

Fairbridge engage young people by offering them a unique combination of opportunity and support - opportunity in the form of a wide range of challenging and structured courses and projects. Support in the form of a tailor-made action plan for each young person in a safe environment that addresses challenging behaviour and recognises achievement.

Fairbridge in Scotland works with government, local authorities and other agencies to make progress in a range of key policy areas and are increasingly regarded as a key stakeholder in terms of helping to reach young people who are not in education, training or employment

Fast Forward logoFast Forward promotes health and well-being through education by, with and for young people. Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles Ltd is a national voluntary organisation based in Edinburgh. We are a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. Since 1987 we have been working with young people in health and well-being education, particularly, but not exclusively focusing on the prevention of substance misuse. We also work with parents and professionals in, for example, education, youth work and social work settings as well as in the workplace.

At Fast Forward we focus on capacity building to boost sustainability of projects in local communities. Through our training and consultancy work we provide individuals and groups with knowledge and skills to develop their own health education approaches with young people. What makes our approach distinctive is the involvement of young people in all aspects of our work. Through listening to, and involving young people we gain a unique insight into the needs and concerns of adolescents. We always aim to give a positive message to young people and to make them aware of life choices. For adults, we play a vital role in presenting young people as part of the solution rather than as a problem. Further still, our work allows us to gather much information and we aim to inform policy and practice through the dissemination of findings and good practice guidelines.
