LGBT Youth Scotland is a national youth organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people aged between 13 and 25. LGBT Youth are committed to supporting LGBT young people, challenging homophobia and transphobia and increasing the level to which LGBT young people are included in Scotland.
LGBT Youth Scotland provides a range of services and opportunities, including youth groups, outreach support and volunteering for young people, their families and the professionals who work with them. Our aim is that this work increases awareness and confidence in dealing with homophobia and transphobia, and reduces the isolation and intolerance which LGBT young people experience.
Inclusion in schools is a priority for LGBT Youth Scotland because it is important to LGBT young people: ‘Improving Schools’ was the number one priority in our 2007 survey of service users. In working to improve schools, LGBT Youth Scotland develop resources and offer training for school staff on LGBT awareness and homophobic bullying.
LGBT Youth Scotland is a managing partner in respectme, Scotland's Anti-Bullying Service.
